Ocean County by the numbersJackson Township residents accounted for 413 addiction treatment admissions in 2022 β 6% of Ocean County's total, or 7.1 per 1,000 residents. Countywide, suspected overdose deaths are down 31% from the 2020 peak.
Inpatient Rehab Options for Jackson Residents
True Pathway Center is a referral and placement resource. We are not a treatment facility, and no one receives care at our office. What we do is simpler: a placement advisor learns what you or your family member is facing, verifies the insurance, and connects you with licensed inpatient programs that fit the substance, the clinical picture and the plan.
Programs we refer callers to typically offer medically supervised detox, short-term and long-term residential treatment, and dual diagnosis care for co-occurring depression, anxiety or trauma. Our inpatient rehab guide explains what residential treatment actually involves.
Withdrawal from alcohol or benzodiazepines can be dangerous and should be medically supervised. Please don't try to detox alone at home β call first.
Jackson's Drug Landscape
Jackson is one of Ocean County's largest townships, with 58,544 residents in the 2020 Census. In 2022, state treatment data counted 413 admissions from Jackson β 6% of the county total. Those are admissions, not unique people. Jackson's rate of 7.1 admissions per 1,000 residents is roughly half of Toms River Township's 14.0.
A lower rate does not mean a smaller problem for the families living it. In a spread-out, car-dependent township, substance use can stay hidden behind closed garage doors for a long time. Countywide, alcohol was the primary substance in 42% of admissions and heroin in 38%, and those two patterns dominate what Jackson families describe when they call.
The direction of travel is hopeful: Ocean County suspected overdose deaths fell from 245 in 2020 to 168 in 2023.
Who Calls Us from Jackson?
Jackson callers are often parents worried about a teenager or young adult, commuters who drive to jobs in Monmouth County or farther north, and residents of the township's age-restricted adult communities, where alcohol and prescription medications can quietly become a problem. Seasonal workers at the township's large amusement and recreation employers call too.
Ocean County's largest age group in treatment is 35 to 44, which accounted for 31% of 2022 admissions β people with jobs, kids and mortgages. Most came in on their own: 59% of admissions were self-referred.

Does Insurance Cover Rehab for Jackson Residents?
For many Jackson families, yes. Under New Jersey's Chapter 28 (P.L.2017, c.28), carriers may not require prior authorization or utilization management for substance use treatment at in-network facilities during the first 180 days per plan year. The covered person's physician, psychologist or psychiatrist determines medical necessity in that period.
Chapter 28 covers fully insured New Jersey plans, the State Health Benefits Plan and the School Employees' Health Benefits Plan β relevant for the many teachers and public employees in Jackson. Some plan types, including self-funded employer plans, are excluded; self-funded employer plans follow different rules β a placement advisor can tell you which kind you have in one call.
